The film follows crossword puzzle creator Mary Horowitz (Bullock) as she embarks in her life as a smart, pretty and extraordinarily strange woman. Horowitz is set up on a blind date with Steve (Bradley Cooper) and quickly finds herself infatuated with the person she believes to be her soulmate. Mary decides to take Steve literally when he says he “wishes she could come with him” on an assignment and decides to follows him cross-country.
